Georgia ranks 8th in the world economic freedom ranking report. The Fraser Institute published the results of its annual Economic Freedom of the World report, with Georgia taking 8th place. The report measures economic freedom based on regulation, freedom to trade internationally, size of the government, property rights, and government spending and taxation.

Washingtonian interviews Ambassador David Bakradze on his favorite places to eat around Washington. As part of Washingtonian’s series on where Ambassadors eat around the District, Washingtonian interviewed the Georgian Ambassador to the US and discussed Georgian wine, and where to eat khachapuri in the city.

US Embassy in Tbilisi allocates funds for Jvari Monastery Conservation. The US Embassy in Tbilisi announced its plans to support the conservation of damaged stones that are part of the main church at the Jvari Monastery. US Ambassador Kelly Degnan and Cultural Attaché Christopher Anderson visited the monastery in Mtskheta to mark the conservation funding.

Deputy Chief of Mission Giorgi Tsikolia participated in the Caspian Policy Center’s discussion on the Blue Dot Network and investments in the Caspian. Earlier this month, the Caspian Policy Center hosted a discussion with USAID on the Blue Dot Network, global infrastructure development and investments in the region. Giorgi Tsikolia, the Georgian Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, participated in the discussion and highlighted Georgia’s ongoing infrastructure projects which will increase connectivity with countries in the Caspian region and the European Union. Tsikolia also underscored Georgia’s integral role in the Black Sea and its NATO and EU aspirations.

Emerging Europe names Georgia a leader in economic freedom for the region. Following the Fraser Institute’s annual report, Emerging Europe named Georgia as emerging Europe’s highest ranked country in the freedom report.
