Key directions of strategic partnership between Georgia and USA, challenges faced by the region and prospects of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries were discussed by Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia and John Bolton, US National Security Advisor at a face-to-face meeting held today at the Government Administration of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia once again stressed the development trend of USA-Georgia strategic partnership and noted that bilateral relations have advanced to a completely new level recently.

Parties also discussed the prospects of intensified economic cooperation and introduction of a free trade regime with the USA.

“During the Presidency of Donald J. Trump, US Administration and Government of Georgia have advanced to a new level of relationship. It is all time high and what is most important – it is all-inclusive. With Mr. Bolton we discussed all those topics that were initiated during my visit to Washington D.C. We touched upon the most pressing issues for Georgia, which include the humanitarian disaster in the occupied territories of the country and the peace-keeping initiatives that will help us in overcoming these challenges. At the same time, we talked about the potential introduction of a free trade regime between the USA and Georgia, which will advance the bilateral relations to a principally new phase of development. We discussed the regional context and security architecture, which should exist in Georgia to address the challenges that country faces. John Bolton is a loyal friend of Georgia. He has a clear vision on how to make our relations further more strategic, with a greater focus on specific outcomes and outputs. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to him for this very vital support” stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Face-to-face meeting of the Prime Minister of Georgia and US National Security Advisor was followed with negotiations in an extended format, which was attended by members of the Government of Georgia and officials from the visiting US delegation.
