As Georgia’s next parliament takes office following the conclusion of the 2024 elections, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze presented a new government program that will help Georgia achieve its long-held dream of the Euro-Atlantic integration. The program, titled “Only with peace, dignity, and prosperity to Europe – 2025-2028,” was drafted in accordance with Article 78 of the Constitution and outlines various efforts the Government is undertaking to further advance Georgia’s European integration in the coming years.

The program makes clear that Georgia remains firmly committed to continuing EU integration and implementing the necessary reforms to achieve accession, a desire the Georgian people have had for decades and which the Government of Georgia has long made a top priority. Under the Georgia Dream-led government, Georgians have gained visa-free travel to Europe and a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. The government’s new program makes clear that Georgia “unremittingly continues the implementation of the Association Agreement, in accordance with the annual action plan, through both legislative and institutional rapprochement with the European Union.”

Additionally, the plan addresses several significant economic initiatives that will help ensure Georgia is empowered to be a productive and beneficial member of the European economy. Among these, Georgia will finalize efforts to strengthen connectivity across the Black Sea, complete construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port Project, and develop new infrastructure projects to make Georgia an even more attractive destination for “Middle Corridor” investment. These projects, among others, will be achieved alongside implementation of the necessary reforms for EU Membership and for this purpose Georgia will implement the action plan approved by the government commission for EU integration.

Finally, the Prime Minister’s program emphasizes Georgia’s ongoing role in promoting regional and global peace. It underlines commitment to hold active consultations with Allies on Georgia’s NATO integration, effective usage of the NATO-Georgia Commission, continuous cooperation with the Alliance on Black Sea security and strengthening of the Georgian Defense Forces. Additionally, the program underscores Georgia’s full diplomatic support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

For decades, the Georgian people have expressed their strong desire for Georgia to become a full-fledged member of the Euro-Atlantic family. As Prime Minister Kobakhidze’s program states, the Government is committed to making this desire a reality.
