With the arrival of Robin Dunnigan, the new U.S. Ambassador to Georgia in Tbilisi, the Government of Georgia is optimistic that ties with the United States will maintain their upward trajectory to advance shared interests amid a geopolitically challenging environment.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Ambassador Robin Dunnigan in what he described as “a very good” meeting. He expressed hope that Georgia and the United States will continue jointly implementing “many useful projects” to further the strategic partnership.
Ambassador Dunnigan also met with Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili. The two discussed various issues and opportunities facing the Georgia-U.S. strategic partnership and prospects for further cooperation. Darchiashvili and Dunnigan confirmed their commitment to further intensify mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Moreover, Ambassador Dunnigan met with Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze to discuss the security elements of the bilateral partnership. The meeting focused on cooperation between the Georgian and U.S. militaries in international operations and the implementation of ongoing initiatives to strengthen Georgia’s defense and deterrence capabilities, which were “positively” assessed by the Ambassador.
The Government of Georgia strongly believes that a solid Georgia-United States relationship is paramount to restoring stability and fostering prosperity in the broader Black Sea region.
