Prime Minister Gakharia had a lengthy call on September 22 with US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien to discuss a range of strategic issues that bind the two countries together.
Coming off the successful conclusion of the “Noble Partner’ joint military exercise between Georgia, US, Polish, French and British soldiers and against the backdrop of continuing Russian cyber-attacks, Gakharia praised the US for their steadfast support of Georgian security. The Prime Minister also reviewed the steadfast public support of Georgians for America, NATO and the European Union.
Gakharia told O’Brien that Georgia welcomed the historic signing of the Peace Agreement between Israel and the UAE and the announced outline of the Israel-Bahrain peace agreement. The two men also discussed the ongoing peace negotiations in Afghanistan and the deep and abiding commitment of Georgia to uphold its global peacekeeping obligations, which have included Georgian casualties in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
Gakharia and O’Brien discussed the US-Georgia strategic partnership focusing on Russia’s illegal actions in Georgia and Georgia’s upcoming parliamentary elections. Both Gakharia and O’Brien stressed the importance of holding free, fair, and democratic elections in October.
