Georgia’s Lugar Lab targeted in foreign cyberattack. This week, the Georgian Ministry of Health experienced a foreign cyberattack where documents from the country’s Lugar Lab were stolen. The information stolen is related to Georgia’s response and management of the coronavirus pandemic. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports the cyberattack was carried out by one of the foreign special services.
Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation plans to build new thermal power plant. The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) announced plans to build a new third combined gas cycle thermal power plant (TPP) named “Gardabani 3.” This plant will provide significant energy, especially in the winter months, and will reserve the capacity to supply the country’s grid in the case of power failure, further improving Georgia’s energy security. Bids will be accepted until the end of the month and negotiations could last until early next year. The project is expected to span 28 months from the start of contract.
