Ambassador David Bakradze started his visit to Chicago by giving a speech at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
Ambassador discussed Georgia’s European and Euro-atlantic integration. He mentioned that by aligning with the strong democratic standards of its western allies, Georgia has managed to become an important economic and logistical hub in the Caucasus region. The last decade has yielded key successes for #Georgia — most notably its first peaceful transition of political power in its 2013 elections as well as increased cooperation with US, NATO and the European Union.
Ambassador David Bakradze met with the diaspora representatives. The diaspora members shared the importance of the Georgian Cultural Center in Chicago’s work to preserve the Georgian language among youth and the wish to keep close ties with native Georgia. Ambassador introduced the diaspora representatives on the projects that the Georgian government and the Diaspora Department at Ministry of Foreign Affairs is implementing to maintain the close connection and cooperation with Georgians residing abroad.
Ambassador David Bakradze finished his visit to Chicago with the roundtable with local companies where he presented investment climate and business potential of Georgia. He also discussed ongoing and planned economic reforms of the government of Georgia, as well as ongoing implementation of the large scale projects in Georgia. Representatives of Chicago based Mcguire Woods, Lyft, Trade Resource International, China General Chamber of Commerce, World Business Chicago, Zhisland attended the meeting.
