Georgia remains deeply concerned about the growing military confrontation between two of its friends and neighbors, Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia. Georgian Prime Minister Gakharia and the entire national security team of Georgia have called for a cease fire and stand ready to host a dialogue between the parties to re-establish peace, security and stability.

The National Security Council of Georgia, “[Georgia] enjoys good neighborly relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia. We seek to maintain and further strengthen these relations.” The government went on to say that due to its strong relations with both countries, Georgia “reaffirms its readiness to contribute, in any form, the defusing of tensions, including facilitating dialogue and hosting a meeting” among the parties.

Georgian officials also reaffirmed the nation’s strict military neutrality between the two feuding nations.
