On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met to discuss U.S.-Georgia relations and matters in the Black Sea region. The two discussed ways to strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership amid rising geopolitical challenges.
Prime Minister Garibashvili welcomed the designation of U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Robin Dunnigan and pledged that his government plans to “actively and closely cooperate [with her] in order to deepen and strengthen bilateral relations.” He further emphasized the importance of “united efforts” by Georgia and the U.S. in the face of “global challenges.”
Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted European integration as his government’s “top priority” and made it clear that his party is “doing its best” to achieve full E.U. Candidate Status.
