Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili joined the resolution regarding the Register of Damage resulting from Russian aggression against Ukraine. This resolution was proposed during the Council of Europe’s Summits of Heads of State and Government. The summit, which took place in Reykjavik, brought together 43 countries and the European Union, joining or expressing their intention to join the Register established by the Summit participants.
The Icelandic Presidency, emphasizing its commitment to supporting and showing solidarity with Ukraine, prioritized the issue during the Reykjavik Summit. Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir stated that significant efforts were made to ensure that the Summit’s outcome addresses the need for holding Russia accountable comprehensively for its aggression against Ukraine.
CoE Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić hailed the establishment of the Register of Damage under the Council’s auspices as a “historic decision.”
