Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, on Tuesday, reaffirmed EU support to Georgia as he met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. Charles Michel said the European Union would stand by Georgia “every step of the way”.

Following the meeting between the officials in Brussels earlier today, Michel said the EU remained “firmly committed” to” Georgia’s European perspective, the “historic opportunity” for Georgian people.

Michel and Garibashvili discussed the process of Georgia’s accession to the EU, where Garibashvili briefed the European Council President about the efforts made by his Government in fulfilling the EU recommendations for granting the country the membership candidate status.
