Georgia has successfully concluded its participation as a Host Country in the ITB Berlin 2023—the world’s largest tourism trade fair—which was held in the German capital from March 7th to the 9th. Following the slogan ’Infinite Hospitality’, the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) made an impressive appearance where visitors from 180 countries were able to engage in a wide range of activities that showcased Georgian tourism destinations, culture, cuisine, and performing arts.
Georgia was lauded for its culture’s strength and its contributions to the international trade fair. ITB Berlin Exhibition Director Deborah Rothe said that organizers “could not have chosen a better partner than Georgia,” and that now “the whole world got to know Georgia and many people will visit your beautiful country.”
Tinatin Gvenetadze, an expert on tourism programs at the German Society for International Cooperation, called ITB Berlin 2023 a “great success” and noted many visitors had expressed great interest in Georgia. She further emphasized that the activities organized by the Georgian side had been well received and expressed hope that the number of tourists in Georgia would increase after the exhibition.
Aside from promoting Georgian culture, Georgia’s participation has the potential to open new avenues for business and commerce. Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, said that the country can now pursue “new target markets” and attract more visitors to Georgia. She further said that the Government is “actively working” to make Georgia a “well-developed, four-season” tourist country by investing in “various directions” and developing “attractive tourist places, balneological resorts, infrastructure and competitive services.”.
Up to 80 Georgian companies of the tourism sector were also present to showcase their products and visitor attractions of the country.
