Ambassador David Zalkaliani met with the Majority Whip of the Senate, Senator John Thune.
Ambassador informed the Senator on the ongoing processes in Georgia in light of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and emphasized the special role of the United States in the South Caucasus and Black Sea regions. At the meeting, the parties highlighted the importance of US engagement in those geopolitical connecting projects, which ensure the strengthening of Georgia’s connectivity with Europe and the Western world. The parties also discussed the ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States and emphasized exemplary cooperation in the field of defense and security.
Ambassador thanked Senator Thune for the support of the US Senate towards Georgia.

ელჩმა სენატორს მიაწოდა დეტალური ინფორმაცია საქართველოში მიმდინარე პროცესების შესახებ უკრაინაში რუსეთის აგრესიის ფონზე და ხაზი გაუსვა აშშ-ის განსაკუთრებულ როლს სამხრეთ კავკასიისა და შავი ზღვის რეგიონში. შეხვედრაზე აღინიშნა აშშ-ის ჩართულობის მნიშვნელობა იმ გეოპოლიტიკურ დამაკავშირებელ პროექტებში რომლებიც უზრუნველყოფს საქართველოს კავშირების გაძლიერებას ევროპასთან და დასავლურ სამყაროსთან. მხარეებმა ასევე ისაუბრეს საქართველო-აშშ-ის სტრატეგიული პარტნიორობის შესახებ და ხაზი გაესვა სამაგალითო თანამშრომლობას თავდაცვისა და უსაფრთხოების სფეროში.
ელჩმა მადლობა გადაუხადა სენატორს აშშ-ის სენატის მხრიდან საქართველოს მიმართ გამოხატული მტკიცე მხარდაჭერისთვის.
