Georgia is on the fast-track to economic recovery. Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili says that Georgia will experience one of the fastest post-pandemic economic recoveries of any country. “There are many factors that actually give us the opportunity to say that the process of economic recovery this year will be fundamentally different,” Khutsishvili said.
Georgia’s economy is projected to grow of 6% in 2021 and GDP growth reaching 44.8% in April 2021.
Last week Khutsishvili said that the Georgian economy is expected to grow 6.5% in 2021, and 6.9% in 2022.
An additional boost to economic growth is the opening of the vital Georgian tourism sector. As of June 1st, travelers arriving via airplane are allowed to enter Georgia with proof of Covid-19 vaccination at the border checkpoints of Georgia. If traveling by land or sea to enter Georgia, travelers must present proof of full vaccination in addition to a negative PCR test taken in the last 72 hours prior to entering the country.
Travelers that are not yet fully vaccinated still face restrictions and must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival. A full list of countries with unvaccinated citizens that are allowed to enter the country can be found here.
