Following the successful visit from the US Congressional Delegation to Georgia, an announcement was made by US President Joe Biden that the US will be supplying Georgia with COVID-19 vaccines.
President Biden announced that the United States will share COVID-19 vaccines with Georgia, because “none of us are safe until all of us are safe.” Georgia along with Ukraine and Kosovo, are the first three European countries to receive vaccines from the United States. The main criteria articulated by the US government for making the decision to send vaccines to Georgia is based on “regional priorities and partnerships.”
Georgia has received global praise for its handling of the Covid pandemic which also included managing a free, fair and open general election in the midst of the crisis. Of course, as with most nations around the globe, Georgia’s people have been deeply impacted and the receipt of vaccines will help jumpstart the nation’s economy – one of the top economies in the region, a gateway hub to over 3 billion consumers.
