Dozens of international election observers and diplomatic missions spread out across Georgia to monitor the elections and rendered overwhelming validation that the people of Georgia once again participated in elections that were free, fair and democratic.
Prime Minister Gakharia praised the international observers for helping Georgia continue on its path to a stronger democracy.
Monitoring groups and international observers confirmed that parliamentary elections in Georgia expressed the will of the electorate.
US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan welcomed the high voter turnout, the competitive nature of the election, and the need for all parties to continue to remain calm and peaceful as the final votes are counted.
Osman Askin Bak from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly noted this was an “important election for Georgia’s transition to a parliamentary system of government.” As with many of the election observers, he praised the competence and professionalism of the election workers who labored under difficult pandemic-related obstacles.
Sending a word of caution to disgruntled opposition parties, Tiny Kox, head of delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, said, “To challenge immediately after the elections, the results of the elections is as far as I can see not the best signal of a mature democracy.”
