Georgia’s Summer Cultural Calendar

Georgia is becoming a hot spot on the world cultural calendar. The reason is the large-scale project Check-in-Georgia, launched in April 2016 with the support of the Government of Georgia, that encompasses a series of large-scale cultural events to be held in the capital city Tbilisi as well as in other regions of the country.

This summer, Georgia keeps hosting multiple festivals across different regions of the country, to include:

INTERNATIONAL BLUES FESTIVAL (June 23- Aug 18)

International Blues Festival became an annual event and is held every summer in Lagodekhi, next to protected areas in Kakheti Region. 16 concerts are lined up this summer with performers from US, UK, Germany, Israel, Russia, etc.

Interestingly, Blues has a long history in Georgia — conveyed from the US to the Soviet Republic of Georgia, when the first generation of Georgian Bluesmen were kept quite out of general view as being part of the western culture prohibited back then by Soviet regime. Today, Blues Festival of Georgia aims to promote young and talented musicians, and honor veteran bluesmen.

ECHOWAVES POWERED BY EXIT (August 23–26)

EchoWaves powered by Exit is the new music festival located in Black Sea-side Anaklia and it’s a perfect place where you can forget about your daily routine and create a new joyful experience, powered with deep emotions. Together we will create unforgettable summer memories. Festival will be held on 23–26 August with more than 150 artists from around the globe, including some big names of the music industry.

BATUMI MUSIC FEST 2018 (Sept 2–12)

Dedicated to classical music and flamboyant Georgian folklore, the 6th edition of Batumi MusicFest will be held in September at the Music Center Concert Hall in Batumi — magical city at the shore of the Black Sea.

Batumi Music Festival is considered the most prestigious and established classical music event in Georgia. It plays a major role in building up an appreciation for classical music in the country. This year festival is held under the high patronage of UNESCO.

Batumi City has the intimate atmosphere that encourages musical excellence. The energy of the bright summer sun inspires music lovers to become a part of unforgettable musical moments. The diverse program brings different cultures together and music becomes universal peace language.
