US companies visit Georgia
Over 30 representatives from 12 large American companies and U.S. Agencies participated in the Certified U.S. Trade Mission to Georgia on October 18–20, with the aim of further strengthening trade and investment relations between Georgia and the US. The visiting companies, operating in construction, logistics, communications and technology sectors, held relevant meetings with various Governmental institutions and conducted over 150 meetings with the representatives of the private and public sectors.
The Mission, co-organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the America Georgia Business Council, US Embassy to Georgia and Embassy of Georgia to the United States, was represented by the following companies: Acrow Bridge, Baron Weather, Bechtel, Budget, Coca-Cola, Lockheed Martin, Miyamoto International, MWH, Nova Power, Obie Technologies, The Greenbrier and VISA.
While in Georgia, the companies were welcomed by the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Gakharia, where they received the firsthand information about the country’s investment climate, ongoing and planned reforms and existing commercial opportunities in all sectors of economic development, including multiple projects of possible interest to the companies. During the Trade Mission, the companies were also hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) to reflect on the American perspective and participation in the economic development of the country.
Georgia continues to open its doors to new ventures in response to the increased interest of the U.S. companies towards Georgia, which in turn reaffirms and further strengthens the existing U.S.-Georgia bilateral relations, especially in the field of commerce and trade.
