Georgia’s national rugby team has won the Rugby Europe Championship in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on March 18th.

The Georgian ‘Lelos’ handed a defeat to Romania 25 to 16 at Dinamo Arena.

It has been Georgia’s fifth victory in a row defeating:

· Russia with a score of 29 to 9 in the Russian city of Krasnodar,

· Spain with a score of 23 to 10 in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi,

· Germany with 64 to 0 in the German town of Offenbach,

· Belgium with a score of 47 to 0 in the western Georgian town of Kutaisi.

The ‘Lelos’ wore white during the national anthem with the name of Georgian citizen Archil Tatunmashvili, severely tortured this February by the Russian occupation force in Tskinvali region.

Georgia lifted a new trophy for the Rugby Europe Championship, which replaced the old shield. Overall this is Georgian Rugby’s 12th annual title and 7th Grand Slam since the tournament began in 2000.
